Drove the transformation of Nexuiz into a contemporary arena shooter using CryEngine 3, with responsibilities across design, art production, technical implementation, and successful release management with THQ.

Nexuiz (the CryEngine 3 version) was a modern revival of the classic arena FPS, rebuilt with enhanced graphics and gameplay. It aimed to capture the fast-paced, competitive spirit of the original while leveraging the power of CryEngine 3 for a contemporary shooter experience. The project involved a comprehensive overhaul, encompassing new visuals, levels, and features, all geared towards delivering intense multiplayer action.

• Converted a popular open-source arena FPS game into a modern arena fps shooter using CryEngine 3
• Created in depth design documentation, project planning, VFX, level art, 3D art, level design, technical design, technical art, materials, lighting, promotional videos, community outreach, & more with the project
• I did a *ton* of in the trenches on this project, all over the place, quite frankly its scary to think how much I did here....
• Handled PR, community management & release with THQ

Level Design Specifics
This game was an Arena FPS and i worked on many levels for it (both art and ld). Since it was IllFonics own IP, I also made a lot of videos after release so there is tons of footage for each map. Every level had a lot of stress because of the Dynamic Mutator system. Although i maintained a constant arena fps level design mindset, we also had to keep in mind the dynamic mutators and allow them to function properly.

Tension
A level built for TDM and DM, had a long shape which i encouraged layered gameplay and looping game flow from back to front

Vigor
A large CTF level that had a core center area and 2 alternate paths on the sides. The core center area was wide open for a lot of dangerous exposure.

Strength

Butt Fartress
A simple remake of the mario kart 64 level, i released it to the community for fun

Siege
A level the community voted on for me to make into a full level from a grey box stage, it was the level we released to showcase 32 player support. A larger map with wide open spaces.

Meow
A level the community voted on for me to make. I decided to do a hilarious theme for the map! It is a CTF level inspired on the 2fort5 approach with my own touches.
